Free Stuff!!!

So, I’ve been writing full-time for three months. It was tough to get into to start with, but I’m in a groove now. I only stop working for Bargain Hunt.

While the long-term goal is to write full-time, the short-to-medium-term plan was to set the business up so I could make enough from the writing so that I didn’t have to go back to commuting into London every day. It’s been great not having to leave for work before the family has woken up, or come home late at night, to be able to spend more time with them, taking the youngest to school each morning, chatting away with him and putting the world to rights.

And, thanks to everyone who’s bought the books, I think I might be in a position where I can get a short-term job that pays much less and is much closer to home, but (with the writing income) means I bring home the salary I had before and gives me that balance that I’ve wanted for years. Which is Stage 1 of The Dream. We’re getting there, kids.

(OK, that work/life balance is being put to the test as I type this as it’s the first day of the Easter break and three 8-year-old boys are in the process of slowly dismantling my house. I’ve already vacuumed twice.)

Hopefully, the fifth HTBD story, Serious Moonlight, should be out within a month and a bit or so. It’s a fun little story about what happened to Dave and Melanie on a weekend away to relax after the events of Old Haunts.

You’ll be unsurprised to know that things don’t go well.

Then there’ll be another Four Horsemen book. I’ve been overwhelmed by the reaction to them having their own story. I was incredibly anxious when I published the fourth book, but everybody has been very kind about it. In fact, I’ve now published it in paperback form because so many people asked for it and you can now buy it:

Here in the US

Here in the UK

Or, y’know, if you want to check all the books out and maybe buy some, you can have a look at my author’s page.

Anyway, the title says “Free Stuff”. I’m going to start doing giveaways of stuff on the first of each month to members of my Readers’ Group. (Look at me with a fancy Readers’ Group. Gone all la-di-dah.)

The first one will be on 1st April and it’ll be a signed copy of the original proof of the new How To Be Dead anthology. Look how pretty.

If you’d like to be in with a chance of winning it, you just need to sign up to the Readers’ Group.

It’ll help my wife out as I think she’s getting annoyed with the number of my books taking up space on the shelves.

Also, there are a lot more people on my Facebook page and there’s always some chat going on there now if you fancy that too.

So, thank you all for your support. In between the cold sweats and staring at the ceiling at night wondering if it’ll all turn out ok, I’m starting to think I could be on the edge of something rather excellent and I couldn’t have done it without you lot.

Have a good Easter weekend. I have to go and write a scene involving some more blood…

Love

Dave x
